Coming to the US from Guatemala as a young boy of 14, I had to work to make my way.  I was in the construction industry for most of my time here in America, either full or part time.  As a naturalized US citizen and a proud parent of three girls, I constantly strive to be the best parent that they could hope for.  My wife Dunea, also originally from Guatemala and now also an American citizen, and I hold family to be the most important aspect of life.  We are happy to be a part of this great country and look forward to seeing our girls continue to succeed here in the future.

I decided to venture out on my own.  I started my own business and hired workers who are skilled in all phases of construction and home improvement.  When I met Bob, and he mentioned that he was building a home, I would not have believed that I would complete the finishing of the modular home he purchased but add him to my staff to help me in aspects of the business that best suit him.  He handles customer relations, sales, marketing, finance, and management.  His role is to free me up to be on the jobs and ensure the quality of work is always the same, and of the highest standards.

Bob

I graduated from the United States Military Academy in 1983.  I served on active duty in Germany for three years, finished my time in the army, and returned to the US.  I had married my wife Jean in 1984 and had our daughter and a son on the way.  After five years in the defense industry, I became a public-school teacher.  From 1991 to 2022 that is what I did.

I came to Columbia County, NY upon retiring from the New York City public schools.  I worked as a teacher for 31 years, in New York City for 25, and in Westchester County NY for 6.  My wife Jean and I found Columbia County to be a hidden gem, and decided to build our retirement home here, particularly in the Town of Copake.  I met Jose at church when I complimented him on the well-behaved children he had.  We became friends and throughout the two years it took to get the house built, I kept him updated on the progress. I was the GC on my job, and had to solve the problems that inevitably arose, and manage the scheduling and finance of the contractors.

 Once our modular home was placed on the foundation, I was asked if I had anyone to finish our porch and complete the detailed trim work.  I only thought of one person: Jose Ventura.  I learned that he had struck out on his own and was looking for jobs, so my wife Jean and I told him that he could do all the work we needed.  It was a good call.

Jose is not only versatile and skilled in every aspect of the process of construction, but his attention to detail and exacting standards impressed me so much, I approached him about working for him.  He agreed that I would be an asset to his business, and we decided to set up a relationship in which we both won.  I get to involve myself in what I believe is a fair, trustworthy, and extremely competent building company, and he gets to stay with the jobs while I reach out to the customers.  I believe in him, and I share his vision.  You will not be disappointed if you trust Ventura Home Builder with your project.
